"Ultimately, of course, it is human intervention that turns a landscape into a vinescape. Selection of plant material, methods of cultivation and, perhaps most important, timing of the harvest have everything to do with how the land is expressed in wines."

Stags' Leap Winery
Just seven miles north of Napa, in a valley within a valley, lies the century-old, 240-acre wine estate known as Stags' Leap. Little has changed here since 1893, the year the winery was founded by Horace and Minnie Mizner Chase. The original 240-acre estate remains intact, 90 acres of which are planted to vineyard and divided into 23 separate blocks based upon soil types and sun exposure. Winemaker Kevin Morrisey's dedication to the terroir of this estate reveals itself in his application of old world winemaking techniques, which enable the wines to tell the story of the land on which they are grown by expressing the unique characteristics and complexity of Stags' Leap.
